In 2366 Reg Barclay transfers to the USS __________(1) NCC-1701-D. His rank is __________(1). His commanding officer is Chief Engineer __________(1) La Forge. Barclay is first seen in the [TNG] Season Three episode __________(2). Barclay is a shy, withdrawn man. He has no friends. He deals with his diffidence and social awkwardness by creating holographic fantasy scenarios. One of his programs features Captain Picard, Data and La Forge as sword-wielding __________(1), and there is a hologram of Deanna Troi in an ancient Greek-style gown in the role of the __________(3).

In 2367 Barclay's intelligence and self-confidence, are boosted by the alien race called the __________(1) who use Barclay to make first contact.

In 2369 Barclay conquers his transporter phobia. He rescues the lost crew of the USS __________(1).

In 2369, Barclay helps to "free" the holocharacter Dr __________(1) from the holodeck so that he can explore the real universe. But in reality the hologram is contained inside a holographic universe.

By 2371 Barclay is working at the Holoprogramming Center at __________(2). He works with the brilliant Dr Lewis __________(1) to develop the Emergency Medical Holographic program. Voyager's Doctor encounters a hallucination of Barclay in the episode [Projections].

In 2373 Barclay serves under Captain Picard again when ship and crew travel back to 2063 where they thwart the Borg's attempt to prevent First Contact with the galactic community. Barclay gets to shake hands with Zefram __________(1), the inventor of warp technology.

By 2376 Barclay is working at Project Pathfinder, at Starfleet Headquarters, in the city of __________(2). The Project's aim is to establish contact with USS Voyager. Barclay's superior officer is Commander Pete __________(1), while Admiral Owen Paris, the father of Voyager's Tom Paris, is the senior commanding officer. In the holosimulation of USS Voyager, Barclay plays the card game called __________(1) with holograms of Voyager's crew. It is Barclay who establishes the historic first contact with USS Voyager. Afterwards he dates his superior officer's sister-in-law whose name is __________(1).

Barclay owns a cat and has named it __________(1) after someone aboard Voyager.

Later in 2376, in the episode __________(1), Voyager's EMH travels to the Alpha Quadrant and successfully cures Barclay's friend and former boss of a terminal illness.

In 2377 a hologram of Barclay sent to Voyager is hijacked by three Ferengi called __________(1), Gegis and Yeggie who reprogram it and send it on. The altered Barclay hologram convinces Voyager's crew that they can return home through a __________(2), but in reality lethal radiation will kill them. The Ferengi want Seven's dead body and the priceless Borg __________(1) it contains. Earlier Barclay had become the unwitting victim of this plot when he dated __________(1) who claimed to be a teacher. In fact she was a __________(2) employed by one of the Ferengi. She pretended to love Barclay to elicit data on his hologram. After consulting his friend and former shipmate __________(2), Barclay uncovers the dastardly plot and thwarts it.

In 2377, Operation __________(1) sets up a live daily trans-galactic comlink between Voyager and Pathfinder. As a gift he sends Voyager a live picture of the planet __________(1). Via the link, a hearing is held in the Pathfinder lab about a holonovel by Voyager's EMH called __________(3). It has been published without his consent and holograms have no legal rights. Barclay testifies at the hearing. It is decided that the Doctor, though not a "person" under Federation law, is entitled to control his artistic work.

In the unrealised 25th century timeline seen in [Endgame], Barclay's rank is now __________(1). He teaches Starfleet cadets at the former Pathfinder lab. He assists Admiral Kathryn Janeway's secret plan to travel back in time and bring Voyager home early, but the Doctor realises his involvement when, while interrogating him, Barclay regains his __________(1), a verbal indication of nervousness he has not had for years. The Admiral's plan works and in 2377 Barclay's younger self witnesses Voyager's dramatic homecoming.
